Seth Troxler and Craig Joiner mixes

Couple of mixes I am very into at the moment – Berlin-based techno/house bod Seth Troxler’s Essential Mix, and a very slick deep/techy house mix from Aberdeen’s own Craig Joiner:

Kev Wright (Sublime) mixes & Massimo Vivona

Listening to DJ Fak’s fortnightly show last night I was pleasantly surprised to hear a couple of old Massimo Vivona tracks, including “Crimewave” – after a bit of digging I found out that most of the old Headzone stuff has now been re-released digitally, including a couple of “best of” albums.

Check out the Headzone stuff here

Also check out what Kev has been up to lately on PunchTheClown.

Finally, check Kev’s Soundcloud page for some of his old mixes – quality. This one is definitely my fave… or maybe 7 was now that i think about it!

Kev Wright – Sublime 5 (1997-98) by Kev Wright

Here are a couple of videos from the legendary Sublime night that Kev and Idge were resident at. I was lucky enough to be one of the few Scottish guests and it definitely ranks in the top one of my best gigs ever!

Carl Craig 6Mix – 27 March 2011

6Mix

Download here: Carl Craig 6Mix for 6 Music

Ace mix from Carl Craig, and a cool interview at the start going over some of his influences, including Cybertron, Kraftwerk and this one from Grace Jones:

Here’s the blurb from 6Music:

DJ, Producer and techno music icon Carl Craig takes over the 6 Mix. The best known of the second wave of electronic producers from Detroit in early 1990s, Craig took his cues from the likes of Derrick May and Jeff Mills, fusing their pioneering sounds with a more experimental, jazzy soundscape. In 1991 he founded his own label, Planet E Recordings, which has gone on to release records by some of the biggest names in techno, from Moodyman to Kevin Saunderson. As he celebrates 20 years of Planet E, Carl takes over the 6 Mix to play some of his favourite releases from the last two decades, as well as playing and talking about some of the old school Detroit sounds which inspired him to make music. Carl also discusses the highlights of his remarkable career, where he sees techno music progressing and also takes to the decks for an hour mix of fresh electronic sounds direct from Motor City.
